Refer a patientIf you would like to refer a patient to the Yale Epilepsy Program for a second opinion, clinical recommendations, management, or diagnostic evaluation, please contact the clinical coordinator for the Adult or the Pediatric epilepsy services. Often the patient will be assessed by an Epilepsy Fellow before being seen by the attending physician. Patients being considered for VNS placement are sometimes asked to have inpatient diagnostic EEG monitoring to confirm and characterize the nature of their epilepsy. How to obtain an urgent evaluationIf you need urgent evaluation of an adult or pediatric epilepsy patient, please contact the clinical coordinator for the Adult or the Pediatric epilepsy services. Request to speak with the attending physician for the epilepsy service. We can take your call, discuss your case, and make recommendations based on the information available.
Calls placed after working hours will be answered by our service. These calls are usually triaged by an Epilepsy Fellow with the support of the Epilepsy Service attending physician. How to obtain an urgent evaluation in the Adult First Seizure ClinicIf you have an adult patient with their first epileptic seizure, we offer a way to obtain a timely and comprehensive evaluation. This evaluation includes a routine electroencephalogram, magnetic resonance image of the brain using epilepsy protocol, and outpatient evaluation in the Adult Epilepsy Clinic.
